Community & Civic Engagement
At East Flatbush Village, Inc. (EFV), we recognize that true community transformation requires engaging not just individuals, but entire families and neighborhoods. Our Community & Civic Engagement Program is designed to educate, empower, and mobilize residents so they can actively shape the decisions and resources that impact their daily lives.
We Offer
On-the-Ground Advocacy, Canvassing, and Outreach
EFV meets residents where they are, ensuring that voices from underrepresented communities are heard on pressing local issues.
Customized Civic Engagement Workshops
We provide training and workshops on participatory budgeting, census participation, and Get Out the Vote (G.O.T.V.) initiatives to increase civic literacy and meaningful participation in the democratic process.
Organizing Block Associations
We help residents establish and strengthen block and tenant associations, fostering stronger networks of mutual support and advocacy at the neighborhood level.
Our vision is not just to provide programs for the youth but to provide
resources to the entire family which in turn will repair our community. This vision can be fostered through a community resource center that allows for a family wellness project. A Wellness Center/ Family intervention center will incorporate educational, social services, nutritional workshops, youth athletics, adult improvement, youth anti-violence center and senior activities etc… a (One stop shop) for constituencies. All of the listed programs and activities are a proactive approach to community involvement/engagement that has the focus on not saving a community, but by building a strong community structure.

East Flatbush Village, Inc. (EFV) empowers residents to become active participants in the democratic process by providing the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to make informed decisions.
RESOURCE DISTRIBUTION
Recognizing that access to resources is often the first barrier to equity, EFV prioritizes bringing essential services and opportunities directly to the community.
Enrichment Workshops
EFV offers a wide range of enrichment workshops that strengthen families, youth, and seniors through education, wellness, and skill-building.
Canvassing & On-the-Ground Advocacy
Our canvassing efforts place EFV staff, youth leaders, and volunteers directly in the community—on the streets, in housing developments, and at neighborhood gatherings
