Our Initatives

School Based Programming

At East Flatbush Village, Inc. (EFV), our goal is to positively shape the lives of young people during their critical developmental years. We believe that by fostering academic success, personal growth, safety, and creativity, we can help students unlock their full potential. Partnering with principals, teachers, and families, we customize programs that directly address the needs of each school community we serve.

What East Flatbush Village, Inc. Offers

  • Professional Development & Parent Engagement
We provide ongoing training and workshops for teachers, staff, and families. By equipping educators with innovative strategies and engaging parents as partners, we strengthen the support system surrounding each child, leading to better academic outcomes and stronger school communities.
  • Safe Passage Initiative
For students at risk of gang or gun violence, EFV ensures safe travel to and from school. This program not only reduces the likelihood of harm but also builds trust and confidence in students and families, allowing them to focus on learning instead of fear.
  • Sports & Arts Enrichment
Through athletics and creative arts, students gain opportunities to express themselves, build discipline, and develop teamwork skills. Sports and arts become pathways for leadership, resilience, and community pride.
  • Digital Media Arts (Grades 6–12)
EFV’s Digital Media Arts program provides hands-on experience in media production, graphic design, and digital storytelling. Students learn technical skills that prepare them for future careers while also using creative platforms to amplify their voices and experiences.
  • Healing Circles
We create safe spaces where youth can share, reflect, and heal from trauma. These circles foster emotional resilience, improve conflict resolution skills, and strengthen community bonds by addressing mental health in a culturally relevant way.
  • Flexible Programming Models
Out-of-School Programs (Weekends): Engaging activities that continue learning outside the classroom.
Push-In Services (During School): Direct support during the school day to address immediate student needs.
After-School Programming (S.T.E.A.M.): Hands-on learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
